Amongst the Leaves - 2 Day FMQ Class
In this class students will use free-motion quilting to create a gum-leaf artwork approx. 50cm x 20cm framed in a unique laser-cut frame which may be purchased from Robyn at a cost of $60.00 per frame. If students prefer this can be made as a quilted wall hanging without the frame.
Running as a 2 day class, students will learn:
Basic design concepts
Use of thread colour in design
Free-motion quilting designs and techniques
Background quilting ideas and technique
ADDITIONAL: Frames can be purchased from Robyn on the day for a fee of $60.00 per frame.

| Instructor Bio: | Robyn J. Cuthbertson is an award winning textile artist based in Melbourne, Australia. Robyn's work explores the versatility of thread as a medium for creating works of art. Her pieces use only thread, on a background fabric, to create bold designs full of colour and life. She uses her sewing machine as others use a paint brush, bringing designs to life from thread. Craft has always played a large part in Robyn's life, however it was not until ongoing health problems forced her to give up her Engineering career at 30 that her love affair with quilting began. None of her previous crafts had proved as addictive as free motion quilting. A year after her first wobbly stitches, Robyn bought a longarm quilting machine and has never looked back, she can hardly believe there was a time in her life when she did not quilt. Robyn's unconventional whole cloth quilts have won awards both within Australia and internationally. Her latest work focuses on smaller textile artworks characterised by bold lines and detailed, intricate stitching. She loves using strong colours and modern quilting patterns to create contemporary designs strongly influenced by geometric cubism. |
