About

Program includes 10 PDF patterns, which are downloaded from the Facebook page, plus 10 video lessons, also on the Facebook page that are conducted by Monica Poole.

Each block will be revealed 1 week in advance for you to collect your supplies.

What the quilt will look like

There will be 9 x 18” blocks with a 6” border. The finished size of the quilt will be approximately165 cm (65”) square. If you want to make it bigger, Monica will show you how you can add quilt as you go borders in the final lesson.

The theme and fabrics

The theme is a magical midnight dream with the moon, stars, birds, butterflies, flowers, leaves and 2 surprise creatures.

Background fabric

Our quilt is going to have a plain black background, you could also use a navy or dark blue or use a light background and turn the moon into a sun. Each background can even be a different colour for a scrappy look.

Applique and patchwork fabrics

The applique and patchwork will be done in various batik fabrics from our stash, you don’t have to use batiks, small prints and mottled fabrics from your stash will also look great.

Techniques include:

Machine applique

Patchwork

Crazy patchwork

Foundation piecing

Strip piecing

Dresden plates

Bias work

Quilting

Quilt as you go construction.

(All techniques are machine sewn but can be adapted to handwork)
